On a side note, they're looking for staff at the moment (ad placed in the local paper) where they specifically ask for "no deadbeats"... maybe they need to review current staff for that attitude before training new ones to be exactly that.

As a local to the area I visit this news agency/post office frequently. I find every experience irritating (a view shared by the rest of my household and close friends in the area), enough so, that it's time to write a review. I find all of the staff (I believe I have been served by at least 5 different staff members including the husband and wife owners) to be unhelpful and incredibly unprofessional. Just now, I needed to use their post office services. I was lined up behind the woman being served in front of me as the second staff member finished up a transaction with another customer. She came over to the second till on the post office side and removed the "closed till" sign, looking in my direction. Reading her body language, because she gave me no verbal indiction, I moved to the bench as I was next in line to be served. As I approached I said "Hi there" but she just looked at me, not acknowledging or responding to my greeting. Awkwardly I continued "um, I'd like to.." then continued to request the service. She completed my request with minimal interaction, the complete opposite to what I just witness with the customer she served before me. This is just one example of the rudeness and unprofessional behaviour I experience every time I go there. On another occasion, just weeks ago, I had 3 items of business to do there. After completing the first request, the staff member retreated to the store room to continue the task she was doing before I arrived. I stood at the counter for several minutes, unable to get her attention until she came back out, and at that point I had to say "um, sorry but I have more things to do". They lack the essential communication and customer service skills that any business should be teaching their staff. They are also in a bad habit of chatting away to customers whose business is done, or each other, for several minutes before attending to new customers. If they want to catch up and gossip, go get a coffee - don't do it while other customers are patiently waiting. It's so infuriating how unprofessional they are. I feel as though I'm treated as a complete nuisance and an utter interruption to their day, because you know, serving customers in a timely and professional manner mustn't be in the job description. The unfortunate thing is, I have to continue giving them my business as it's the most easily accessible post office in my area. I'm not saying they are bad people, but as a whole their behaviour is disliked to say the least, and I hope by reading this they can think about how they treat their customers and make some changes.

Whilst yes, they are usually busy on weekends, particularly Saturday's, I found all the staff to be very friendly, polite and helpful. The service was prompt and as efficient as possible and made the whole shopping and postal service an absolute pleasure.
